Apple Picking at Randall Orchard, Standish, Maine

It has been a very unseasonably hot and humid day, today! Early-ish this morning Wayne and I did a little apple-picking at Randall Orchard, but even then it was very muggy.

We plan to pick apples again, hopefully my favorites, Red and Golden Delicious, in mid-October at Libby & Son in Limerick.

  1. Glad you were able to grab some “low hanging fruit.” It has been a warm and humid beginning to fall here (KY) also. My neighbor wishes to take here kids to the pool (but of course is closed for the season now). Fall is my favorite season. Where is it? We’ve had plenty of rain here in September but the trees in the neighborhood look stressed – limp leaves and the color change is crisp brown – not color. Where is Fall? Great pics of Merrifield Farm. When the fall colors come in strong up theya take some pictures and share them in your blog if you can. Looking forward hopefully to see you and Wayne at the end of June – Kennebunk Chapel. Waiting for a cool here. Blessings always.

    1. It has been a weird weather year in so many places! Sorry about fall not showing up where you live and the disappointing foliage. Many of the leaves here turned brown in early September–not normal. Now some are turning colors but the landscape right now is mostly green, a little color, and brown. I love taking pics of the leaves and do plan to post any good captures here for sure!

(The pics from this post are of Randall Orchard but they were selling maple products from Merrifield Farm, a place we haven’t yet visited. We bought a big glass jug of syrup, mmmm.)

In the meantime, here is a spectacular foliage link from last year:

  2. Hi Averyl! 🙂
Time has been weird here in Portugal, also. During the day it’s hot and windy and at night it gets so cold, we have to close all the windows.
Those apples look delicious and Elvis looks like a very cool cat!
    🙂

  3. Maybe we’re in for an Indian Summer. 2001 was like that. I went to visit Wyoming in October that year with all kinds of warm clothes, and it averaged 80 degrees! By December the snow was thick and wet.
