Chippie’s Big Reveal!

It’s been a while since I blogged in depth about Chippie since she is quite shy unlike Wishy. Earlier in the spring she was looking rather portly. I figured, like most of us, she’d want me to wait until she worked off her winter weight before I took pics to post online. The photo above is from this morning. She’s getting good exercise now that spring is here. Anyway, there have been some strange happenings that finally made sense this morning.

Saturday Morning Estate Sale Finds

Early this morning I headed over to Falmouth for my first estate sale of the season. It’s been hard for me because this is the time of year when I would normally been in regular contact with my late friend, Margaret. Signs of Spring

Last Friday morning I looked through my kitchen window to see if the latest snowstorm had yet begun. I was completely shocked to see a chipmunk sitting on the deck! I didn’t think I would see our court jesters until April. My heart sang as I yelled out to Wayne that it appeared that Wishy was outside. He was last seen at the end of November. I put my coat over my pajamas and ran to the deck. He let me get close to him to take his pic but didn’t visit long before he ran across the yard. But was it really him? And if it was, did my other pal, dear little Chippie, survive the winter or would I soon come to realize she had passed away after her autumn attack?

Chippie Updates

Chippie is back after having disappeared for a few days, and she is wounded. Shown is before and after. Looks like she was in a fight! She was eating and able to sit, stand and run. But she is obviously shaken and missing tufts of fur. Please if anyone reading this has any suggestions let me know. I am going to contact my vet tomorrow along with two wildlife rehabs. New updates added 10/25.

Personal Updates

I’ve had some rough days since my last post, but I’ll start with the more upbeat stuff. The photo above is of Wayne looking rather tiny in contrast with the big colorful trees in our woods.

My Pal, Chippie

One kind of love begets another. Get all the love possible expressed in your life. Love something or somebody, if it’s only a geranium. — Margery Wilson, silent film star and author.

I’ve lived in my house over eight years and while I had always enjoyed seeing chipmunks, this is the first time that I “adopted” one as an outdoor pet or rather, she may have adopted me. It began mid August when I was ill at  home with 101 fever and I was reading in my sunroom. I noticed that she (I don’t know the gender but have come to think it’s female) was taking an active interest in me.
