Pleasant Hill Preserve, Scarborough, Maine

I just returned from the new nature preserve courtesy of Scarborough Land Trust that’s only a few miles from my house. It’s a little fairyland with a big sky! The air smelled like wildflowers, birds were everywhere and it was ours (me, the birds, groundhogs, chipmunks, butterflies, humming bees and things rustling in the leaves as I walked past) alone for the duration of my walk! Episcopal Summer Chapel: St. Ann’s By the Sea, Kennebunkport

Wayne and I have commenced our “summer tour” of seasonal Maine Episcopalian churches with St. Ann’s in Kennebunkport being our first. St. Ann’s is “an historic seaside Chapel that offers the opportunity for summer worship, fellowship, and outreach on the coast of southern Maine.  Located in Kennebunkport, the picturesque chapel was built in 1887 to serve the communities of Kennebunk, Kennebunkport, and Cape Porpoise.  People of all faiths join residents and visitors to the region for Sunday worship, special services and quiet meditation in the park setting overlooking the Kennebunk River and the Atlantic Ocean.” We decided to go to the 8:00 a.m. Eucharist which was held in the outside chapel overlooking the sea! But then this past weekend the cold, rainy spell ended! They are now standing taller and things are looking up! Continue reading “Our Garden is Recovering from the Incessant Rain!”

Out Picking: Fabulous Flea Finds!

I headed to the Arundel flea market at 6:30 this morning, which may seem early but it’s actually on the late side! The dealers set up in the middle of the night and the best deals are to be had EARLY. There were a pair of beautifully matted and framed impressionist paintings, one of a garden, the other a still life, that I adored and the price was right!
